Be Creative

We are happy to bring our activities to you, so no need for an expensive coach. We bring all the equipment, you provide the children.

As with all our activities, the Outreach Programme at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre makes learning fun, so whether you’d like us to come into your classroom, after school or holiday club, our activities will entertain and educate your group.

Papermaking

Make design choices about what materials you will combine to make your own recycled paper.
Suitable for: KS1 and KS2; 1 3/4 hour workshop suitable for groups of up to 30 children
Curriculum Links: Art & Design, D & T
Availability: September – May
Price: £100 + VAT, additional workshops £50 + VAT

Working with Willow

Explore the properties of willow, choose to have your class make a fish, dragonfly, indian mandela, dream catcher, lantern or other willow shape. Structures can be made for a negotiated rate.
Suitable for: KS1 and KS2; 1 1/2 hour workshop for groups of up to 30 children
Curriculum Links: Art & Design, D & T

Felt Making

Create your own piece of fabric from natural fibre! Learn about the history of the material, then design and make your own A5-sized piece of felt.
Suitable for: KS1 and KS2; 1 1/4 hour workshop suitable for groups of up to 30 children
Curriculum Links: Art & Design, D & T
Availability: September – May

Make Wild Music

Gather sounds from around you and then create your own composition using musical notation made from found objects.  Experiment with percussion instruments and then create musical instruments from natural materials.
Suitable for: KS1 and KS2; 1 3/4 hour workshop suitable for groups of up to 30 children
