Shropshire Way 80K Festival Returning for its third year, the festival is a fundraiser for Grow Cook Learn, the charity which operates the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre. Runners and walkers from all over the UK and beyond descend on Shropshire to take part in a personal challenge through this fascinating and beautiful area. Our mission is to connect people to the food, history and landscape of the Shropshire Hills and so we provide a sumptuous choice of local food for everyone as they pass through our checkpoints. You can sample Shropshire Fidget Pies, a beef stew served in a barn high in the hills, local cheeses and sausages as well as our famous Bara Brith. After all, what better way could there be to explore what the area has to offer than to walk or run through its enchanting landscape whilst tasting the wonderful food heritage of the Shropshire Hills? All the routes are hilly so don’t expect to smash your PB, but they will take you over some of the iconic Shropshire Hills summits and iron-age hillforts, along ancient drovers routes and through ancient forests and delightful market towns. For 2020, there will be three events: the flagship SW80K- 50 miles in 24 hours the Mammothon- a full-distance trail marathon with a generous 12-hour time limit the mini-Mammothon, a half marathon with a 6-hour limit. Entry fees include great local food & drink, first aid services, a rescue vehicle, a certificate of achievement and a Sw80K Festival pin badge as a memento. All the events have fun and friendly atmosphere and are designed to support everyone from the hard-core ultra-runners to walkers just trying to complete within the time.
