Dogs in the Centre

Our most recent review of our dog policy.

The Onny Meadows has been described as a doggy paradise. We couldn't agree more and we LOVE dogs! Many of our staff members have their own dogs and like so many others, use the Onny Meadows regularly for exercising them.

However, we are often asked why we don't allow dogs in the Centre when we are so well set up for them outside and here's why:

As much as some people like to take their dogs in with them for lunch and a shop, it has always been the case in our polls and surveys that an equal amount of people would be very put off by sharing the building with dogs.
???? We have beautiful artwork and shop stock that would be vulnerable to doggy shakes after a wet, muddy walk.
???? We have a soft play corner where children are welcome to play freely and very much enjoy doing so.
???? We are seen as a safe place for many that use our Centre as a calm and predictable place to visit.

Therefore, it is felt that introducing dogs to this environment would not be appropriate.

We applied for funding last year to do a large scale renovation of our cafe area to create a muddy boots and dog bar, within which we could allow our four legged friends to have their own exclusive area. We were unsuccessful with the bid, so we compromised and managed to install a serving hatch from the existing cafe servery to accommodate people outside that wanted to order but couldn't come in.

Please be assured, we are listening and we are very much wracking our brains on how we can best suit all of our visitors (including our beloved furry ones of course!)

This policy is constantly under review and we welcome all comments and feedback at any time.
